Hello fellow bloggers, my name is Emma and I’m 23 years old from the South East of England. I have naturally dark blonde hair but I occasionally dip my head into a pot of ginger hair dying phase, and so currently I’m ginger!
In 2015 I begun my Open University journey of studying towards an Open Degree with the subjects Philosophy and English Litersture. It’s now 2018 and I’m currently waiting for my results. Previously I had attended a “brick” university but it just wasn’t for me, and so I dropped out and carried on with my part-time work.
During my “gap year” (2014) if you should call it that, I begun this blog ‘Emma’s Bookery’ where I began writing reviews on the books I was reading and sharing them online. Slowly this simple hobby has become a lot more than just posting a review on a blank blog. I started to join in with the book community with Twitter chats and discovering new bloggers on the way. I started to learn more and more about the publishing world and soon enough I was receiving emails from publishers and various agency’s as to whether I would review a book for them. As time has gone on, I have built up good relationships with publishers and other bloggers within the community and I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities that have come my way.
In 2017 I moved to London and was bookselling in The Bookshop by WHSmith, and every pay packet was at risk of being spent on books. From this experience of getting to know what books readers wanted to read, I applied to various publishing houses to try and get some hands-on experience of being in a publishing environment. Back in June 2018 I was lucky enough to get a two-week placement at Watkins Media, where I was part of the Marketing and Publicity team. It was great fun and it has cemented my dream of building a career in this industry.
This blog has made me excited for my future, and more determined than ever to achieve my gosls. I’m looking forward to sharing my life and this blog with you all.
