Okay so I’ve been rather slack these past few months with blogging, but if I’m completely honest it’s been a lovely break.
I’ve put my studies first and boy if you have read my OU Term 2 post then you’ll know just how busy I’ve been.
I’m lucky to have spent as much time with my boyfriend Sam as possible, and 2016 has probably been the best Christmas for a long long time (despite the blown up leg of course). I’ve seen family and friends, and just had some chill time from the intensity from studying. I needed it because I know as the New Year begins it’s going to be a bit of a stressful one, but I like being busy and it will keep me occupied from missing Sam.

Okay so these look like plenty of reads, but truth be told a good chunk of them are graphic novels/comics so a little cheating went on trying to boost my reading challenge numbers. Sadly I didn’t reach my Goodreads reading goal in 2016, I think I read 65 out of the 75 I wanted to read. This year I set myself the goal of 80 books, ambitious yes but hey a challenge is a challenge.
I was also fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Sara Barnard’s second novel A Quiet Kind of Thunder, and having read her first Beautiful Broken Things I knew it would be just as awesome and I couldn’t be more correct and happy for her. So if you haven’t picked up either of these already then you really should Sara’s writing is fantastic! My review will be linked here soon.
Two of my reads were for university, Oroonoko and Candide, or Optimism. Candide was my favourite, a very different book that in a way mocks optimism. A little depressing you might think? Well if anything it was hilarious and SO TRUE! If you want to try something different then that’s the one to read. I haven’t written a review for Oroonoko yet but it will be up at some point during January.
Paper Girls Vol, 2 was a Christmas present from my lovely boyfriend Sam. We’re both loving this series so far, and ugh the artwork is just incredible. If you haven’t noticed Brian K. Vaughan is one of my favourites! Yes, again a proper review will be up for this very very soon I promise haha.
Compared to last Christmas’ book haul this is tame! Only because last year I seemed to have won SO many competitions, and publishers were giving away tonnes of books and I’m a very greedy hoarder!
As I’ve mentioned I’ve already read Paper Girls Vol, 2 and A Quiet Kind of Thunder, both were fabulous. I finally have Dark Made Dawn to complete James Smythe’s Australia trilogy- yay!
The Graces and Outlander have been on my radar for a long time, little did I realise that Outlander was HUGE but I’m loving it so far and ugh Jaime!
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find them is absolutely gorgeous, and I keep looking at it and I couldn’t be more excited to read the screenplay as I waited patiently for the film to be released on DVD.
Seeing as this is a ‘Winter wrap-up’ I might as well share what I got for Christmas with you, because I was truly spoilt and I have the best people in my life who know me so well.
Books, DVD boxsets, Lush, pamper stuff, PJs, the ELDER WAND! As well as much chocolate, a giant pot of Sudocrem, earphones, talc, and what you can’t see is my new blender from Sam so I can make ALL the smoothies inn the new year to encourage my health kick.
I guess this is where I would tell you all my New Years resolutions, main one’s being; taking care of myself, working hard at university, travelling to new places, reading all of the books and importantly spending more time with my loved ones.
I don’t want to set goals this year, but if I had to choose one it would be to just be happy. I want to make the most of each and every day, whilst also not going a hundred miles an hour at everything.
I’m already applying for my dream jobs (publishing), exercising more to feel good and take care of my body, and spending time with my favourite people. I have wonderful plans for the next few months, and many ideas for the future.
I would like to be more present on this blog and share great content, but I’ve promised myself not to force posts to appear out of my head. So if I’m quiet for a little while its not because I’m fed up of blogging but that I have nothing that I feel I want to share, and I’ve accepted that this is okay.
I want to thank those of you who remain faithful to this blog, and me as a friend. I appreciate you all and wish for you to have the most amazing 2017.
All my love,
